Breeding Mechanics Explained

Palworld breeding begins with a Breeding Farm, two compatible Pals of opposite genders, and Cake stored in the farm chest. When both parents remain assigned and their conditions are suitable, the farm consumes one Cake and produces an egg. The child species is not chosen by visible parent rarity alone. For ordinary combinations, the game compares hidden breeding-power values and selects the eligible Pal closest to the resulting value. Special recipes can override that general rule. Check the selected Baby Pal again whenever you swap a parent or spend another Cake.

Before committing a Cake, choose Parent A and Parent B, confirm any gender restriction, and check the deterministic ordinary Baby Pal. Rarity matters primarily because rare parents, legendary passives, and large eggs require more preparation—not because an ordinary result silently changes species. Mutation Eggs are separately labeled with fan-researched rates, so they do not enter the ordinary combination graph. After an egg appears, incubate it with your world and server settings in mind; species certainty and timing estimates are different questions.

Understanding Breeding Combinations

A combination is a specific Parent A plus Parent B recipe for one Baby Pal. Palspawn normalizes parent order, so swapping the two parents does not create a different ordinary species result. The complete table searches 44,851 breeding records and shows the required gender when a recipe is constrained. Search by any of the three Pal names to work backward from a target or forward from the pair you own.

Unique Combos are the important exception to a purely numeric rule. They can use named parents, fixed gender roles, or another special recipe to produce a child that the ordinary breeding-power calculation would not select. The table marks those rows rather than hiding them among common recipes. Some rare Pals appear in many standard combinations because their breeding power lies near many parent averages; others have only a narrow special route. How Long Does Breeding Take?

Palworld breeding time has two parts: the farm must first create the egg, and the incubator must then hatch it. The source plan uses a simple planning table—about 5 minutes for a normal Pal, 15 minutes for a rare Pal, and 30 minutes for a legendary Pal. Treat those numbers as planning estimates. Multiplayer server rates, custom world settings, parent work conditions, temperature, and incubation configuration can make the real wait shorter or longer.

Stock the Breeding Farm chest with Cake before the parents finish their cycle. Then place the egg in an incubator with the correct temperature and use the most favorable incubation setting available in your world. For a long path, multiply the expected cycle by the number of intermediate eggs and keep spare Cake ready; one failed passive roll may require several repeats.

Passive Skill Inheritance Rules

Passive skills—often called breeding traits by players—are rolled separately from the Baby Pal species. The child can inherit a number of passives from the unique combined parent pool, and additional random passives may also appear. The current predictor uses the community-reported relative chances 4:3:2:1 for one through four inherited skills. It then considers how many desired skills exist in the parent pool and how many possible selections contain all of them.

Cleaner parents usually produce better odds. If two parents contain the same useful passive, duplicate names do not create extra unique choices; if they carry unwanted skills, those skills compete in the selection pool. Rare passives such as Legend or elemental damage bonuses must be legally available on a parent before inheritance can select them. Random additions mean the displayed probability is an estimate rather than a promise about a specific egg.
